FIRST RUN @ CRITICAL PATH

The next First Run artists are Bhenji Ra and Ivey Wawn. Join us at the Drill Hall as these wonderful artists share new ideas and work in development.

Bhenji Ra is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice combines performance and video. Her work is often concerned with the dissection of cultural theory and identity, centralizing her own personal histories as a tool to reframe performance.

Ivey Wawn  is an independent artist working with contemporary practice in a range of contexts, both as a performer/collaborator, and in producing her own work. Her choreographic work is centred around deep considerations and analysis of political systems and resource distribution.

First Run is an informal gathering around two artists sharing their work. This may include initial draft ideas, works in progress, the development of an ongoing practice or an investigation into a particular working method, (such as solo practice, improvisation, collaboration or dance on film). The work shown, 10 to 15 minutes, is then opened up for discussion with the audience.

Co-facilitated by Brooke Stamp and Rhiannon Newton.

First Run was initiated by Lucy Guerin Inc in 2008 in Melbourne, running regularly each year since at the company’s studio. First Run, Sydney is a partnership between Critical Path and ReadyMade Works in collaboration with Lucy Guerin Inc.
