During her time in the research room, Rhiannon is reading, thinking, writing and working through some ideas that both continue and shift the recent processes and projects she has been engaged in. She has gathered some great texts, such as Donna Haraway’s ‘Staying with the Trouble’, Clare Land’s ‘Decolonising Solidarity’ and Bojana Kunst’s ‘Artist at Work’, and, bolstered with such wisdom and the opportunity to follow arising material, hopes to pool some new knowledge, understanding and imagining around dance’s practices of and relationship to qualities of care, duration, memory and sharing.
Rhiannon is a Sydney-based dancer and choreographer. Her practice concentrates on the live-ness of dance and processes of repetition, problematising how a dancing spirit meets economies of production and authorship. Her choreographies ‘Assemblies for One Body’, ‘Bodied Assemblies’, ‘Doing Dancing’, ‘In T(w)o’ and ‘The Check Point Solo’ have been presented at Brisbane Festival, Dancehouse, Dance Massive Festival, The Lock-Up, Judson Church (USA), Metro Arts, First Draft, Nagib On Stage (SL), PACT Centre for Emerging Artists and Strut Dance. She has developed her practice in residencies throughout Australia and abroad with organisations such as Ausdance NSW, Bundanon Trust, Campbelltown Arts Centre, The Centre for Interdisciplinary Arts, Critical Path, Dancehouse, FORM Dance Projects, UNSW Creative Practice Lab, Lo Studio (CH), Movement Research (USA), Nagib (SL), Performing Arts Forum (FR) and Tanzhaus Zurich (CH) with support from Create NSW, The Australia Council for the Arts and the Inner West Council. Rhiannon has been a part of international forums such as the Australian Eastern European Choreographic Exchange, the Avignon Festival International Seminar and the Swiss / Australian Reciprocal Residency. She works as a performer with artists such as Rosalind Crisp, Mette Edvardsen, Martin Del Amo, Paea Leach and Brooke Stamp. Rhiannon also co-facilitates First Run Sydney, is on the board of ReadyMade Works Studio and lectures at the Australian College of Physical Education. She has a Bachelor of Arts Dance from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and Minor Degree in Photo Media from Edith Cowan University.
