Jason Pitt

Responsive Research Program Resident 2012

Jason Pitt is an indigenous Australian and a member of the Tjungundji clan of western Cape York in Far North Queensland. A highly experienced and internationally accredited lecturer. His contribution to the arts industry have spanned more than two decades.

Multi-award winner Jason Pitt is a dance practitioner with a multifaceted practice. His choreographic work has been influential and creative, appearing in Australia and internationally to critical acclaim, with many critics noting his unerring ability to find the raw emotion in human stories through movement. Jason has trained with Naisda College, London Contemporary Dance School, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater School and the Merce Cunningham Studio. Jason’s venture into film-making resulted in the short film Inasmuch ( 2002) that soon transferred to the stage receiving short list nominations for the Australian Dance Awards. Jason has also graduated in Psychology/Anthropology (UNSW). Currently, Jason works as a Data Analyst in Mental Health.
