Paul Cordeiro

Responsive Research Program Resident 2008

Paul Cordeiro completed his dance training at WAAPA, with a diploma in Performing Arts – Dance. Paul has been an independent artist and freelance dancer/choreographer in Sydney since 1991. His career, like most artists, has been broad, but Contemporary Dance and Dance Theatre have been been his passion. Paul has worked in dance, theatre, film and cross cultural work. He has worked for Opera Australia, national tours of musicals The King and l (1991-1992) and West Side Story (1995). He has created his own works both full length seasons and short works and solos. He was assistant choreographer in two segments of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Opening Ceremony. He was Resident Choreographer for Disney’s The Lion King (2003-2005) in Sydney. From 2008-2013 he worked as a core member of the award winning Melbourne based company, Finucane & Smith with the incredible Moira Finucane. He presently creates his own works within the community, commissioned works for festivals and collaborating with fellow artists on film and Cabaret.

Paul is also a sought after teacher, mentoring students, graduates, and professional dancers, actors and singers. He is also a qualified fitness instructor and has many private clients.
