Responsive Program Resident 2012

TESS DE QUINCEY is a choreographer and dancer who has worked in Europe, Japan, India and Australia as a performer, teacher and director. Trained in dance, graphics and sculpture in London and Copenhagen, she was formerly a dancer with butoh dancer Min Tanaka and his Mai-Juku performance group in Japan 1985-91 who founded the BodyWeather practice. Her major solo productions include Movement on the Edge (1988-89), Another Dust (1989-92) is and is.2 (1994-95) and Nerve 9 (2001-5) and in 2000 Tess formed De Quincey Co which is Australia’s leading BodyWeather company

Tess and De Quincey Co are developing METADATA for presentation at Riverside Parramatta in partnership with Form Dance projects and Dancehouse Melbourne. Tess will be collaborating with Jon Rose and a range of musicians in ROSENBERG: The Museum goes Live at Performance Space. We are also developing a new program BODYWEATHER FOR EVERYONE for City of Sydney which includes partnerships with Murmuration Dance Theatre, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Space at Glebe Town Hall, and Bakehouse Theatre in Kings Cross. We will soon be inviting Expressions of Interest for our ongoing IMPRO-EXCHANGE 2016.
