The Committee of Critical Path is delighted to announce the appointment of Claire Hicks as the new Director of Critical Path.
As an independent British producer and curator in the dance sector, Claire Hicks brings 20 years of art-sector experience and outstanding skills in developing both artists and arts organisations to Critical Path.
The recruitment panel composed of Meredith Brooks, Fenn Gordon, Gideon Obarzanek and Rebecca Hilton searched wide and thoroughly to ensure that Critical Path and the dance community enjoy the best dance professional and leadership for such a strategic and significant role for the sector.
“I am excited to be joining Critical Path as Director. The organisation has an international reputation for dance research; and my own past experience (through Dance4) with Critical Path, sharing residencies and taking part in SEAM, has convinced me of the unique contribution it makes to artists, the art form and ultimately dance audiences. Critical Path has a fantastic team, and I am looking forward to build on the significant contribution that Margie has made. This is a real opportunity for Critical Path, having just celebrated our 10th birthday, to take the next step in our journey, to offer more to artists in New South Wales and beyond, to reach beyond the dance sector to different disciplines and to open up the world of dance to people from all walks of life. I’m committed to being part of that journey and to taking artists and the public with me” declared Claire.
Claire’s experience in artist, art form and audience development makes her a suitably visionary leader to succeed Margie Medlin in the second half of 2015. Additionally, Claire has a long relationship with Critical Path, having worked closely with Critical Path during her four years with our long term partner Dance4 (UK). It is anticipated Claire will be in the office from the 30th of August.
