Impossible Bodies: A Choreographer’s Toolbox

Open to 15 Australian choreographers/dancers. Expressions of interest due 1 September.

Associated event: Colette will be in residence at Critical Path from 14 to 27 October developing a new solo work where she will consider the agency of the non-human and the possibilities of choreography beyond the human body. Colette’s residency is part of an ongoing residency exchange program between Critical Path and Dance 4 in the UK.

One main theme in Colette’s ongoing choreographic work focuses on questioning human form and its limitations in the exploration and creation of new bodily images in dance. This workshop will take the notion of a choreographer’s ‘toolbox’ as a generator for thinking about choreographic process. Over the two days Colette will focus on sharing with participants her movement and choreographic research drawing on a range of body practices including Feldenkrais and Shearing method in preparation for exploring an anatomical rethink of physical forms and gesture.

Colette Sadler is a British choreographer based in Berlin. She worked internationally as a dancer from 1994-2002. Since 2002 she has worked as a choreographer presenting numerous solo and group works across Europe.
