Location

The Drill Hall is on 1C New Beach Rd, Darling Point NSW 2027. It is a large yellow building by the water’s edge on New Beach Road, opposite no. 42 and past the Cruising Yacht Club.

Background

The Drill Hall is managed by Woollahra Municipal Council who has leased the hall to Critical Path as a dance research facility since 2005. It was the site of navy use and administration for much of the twentieth century.

The Drill Hall is not available for private and children’s parties. Maximum capacity for any event is 80 people.

Current Rates

These rates are for 2024 and quoted excluding GST which will be charged.

Performing Arts Hire Rates:

• $ 275 per week day
• $ 325 per weekend day
• $ 625 full weekend
• $ 1,250 per week (weekends not included)
• $ 1,700 per week (weekends included)

Included in Hire

• Use of 18 x 10 metre (approx.) semi sprung dance floor with tarkett – the specialist tarkett must be protected during hire of the premises. (Tarkett may be removed with the charge of $600)
• Use of black-out drapes
• Use of shower facility 
• Use of heating (no air conditioning)
• Use of custom made portable dance mirrors
• Access to sound system
• Access to change area and storage facility
• Access for disabled
• Access to common kitchenette facility (equipped with microwave, bar fridge, hot water kettle and urn) – suitable for minimal catering only
• Access to common downstairs toilets (including accessible toilet)
• Use of chairs (approx. 40)
• 12-channel digital dimmer lighting rack and some lights

Other Equipment for Hire at Additional Cost Upon Negotiation

• Projectors for video and data
• 12-channel lighting control board

Hiring Procedure

1. Email request to [email protected]
2. Confirmation of availability
3. Copy of public liability certificate of currency provided to Critical Path
4. Booking sheet signed and returned
5. Induction and key handover
6. Return keys and sign out key sheet

Keys

Loss of keys will incur a fine.

Cleaning

Dishes and food need to be packed away at the end of the day and all major cleaning needs to be conducted before the end of the hire. Cleaning services are not included in the hire.

Staff Assistance

Assistance required of Critical Path staff outside office hours and the weekends will incur additional charges.
