Carrion

Justin is back at The Drill working on the final development of his new solo work Carrion to be presented by Performance Space, a World Premiere at Liveworks Festival. Justin’s development has been supported by Critical Path and Performance Space.

What does it mean to be human, in an era when our destructive influence over the planet is redefining the laws of nature? This magnetic new solo performance by Justin Shoulder introduces the figure of Carrion: a post-human spectre that has the ability to shapeshift into multiple forms and speak multiple languages.
With an ego driven by nostalgia Carrion wanders an archaeological site uncovering objects. As Carrion’s journey unfolds, we glimpse startling new truths about simulation, consumption and worship in an age of excess and acceleration. Drawing on queer and ancestral mythologies, Carrion transports us into a place where the distant past collides with the far future, alerting us to the changes that already lie within ourselves.
