Catapult Exchange & Double Bill Presentation

The Double Bill featuring Mess by Allie Graham & Skip Willcox and Re/Collect by Mikayla Nangle & Alexandra Ford will no longer be presented at the Drill Hall on Sunday 22 March.

As it stands, the Double Bill has been postponed to the beginning of August. This is subject to change and will be confirmed closer to the date.

Allie and Skip have continued to work on the development of Mess at Catapult Studios in Newcastle this week and Mikayla and Alexandra will begin working on Re/Collect at a later date.

The Critical Path/Catapult ‘Studio Exchange’ aims to facilitate the movement of artists between the two organisations and between metropolitan Sydney and regional Newcastle. The visiting artists use this opportunity to invite connections with local artists and open up dialogue around their current practice and new work.

Allie Graham and Skip Willcox work on their piece, Mess. Mess captures the glamour, melodrama, and absurdity of a golden era. The work explores the dichotomous persona of the femme fatale and the ingenue. Mess is the sweetness and wild physical discomfort , all hidden beneath the laboured pursuit of beauty and heady mythologised love.

Mikayla Nangle and Alexandra Ford will head to Catapult to develop Re/Collect. Re/Collect unveils the notion of our inherent susceptibility to the distortion of memories throughout our lives. How our perceptions of events can change and through retrospect, we are able to alter and further create meaning to these memories, despite them being fixed in time.
