Dancing Sydney: Mapping Movements: Performing Histories

Alan Schacher, Fondue Set, Narelle Benjamin and Vicki Van Hout

The Dancing Sydney: Mapping Movements: Performing Histories project is a skills development program for independent Sydney dance makers to explore best practice in archiving their processes for future audiences.  The project is held at the University of Sydney with project partners alongside Critical Path, the State Library of New South Wales, Amanda Card (USYD), Erin Brannigan (UNSW) and Julie-Anne Long (Macquarie).

The artists identified as the final group, following on from work in 2017-18 and 2018-19 are Alan Schacher, Fondue Set, Narelle Benjamin, and Vicki Van Hout.

The participating artists joined Amanda Card in October 2019 in a visit to the State Library NSW to explore the library’s archive and to consider some of the issues and approaches related to creating an archive. They will be interviewed by Erin Brannigan, to create a ‘portrait’ for digital publication.
