RESIDENCY 2017

Sioned and her collaborating artist Reina Kimura (Japan) will invite the local community to participate in a development and presentation of Aomori Aomori in the Drill Hall she will also travel to Bathurst.  NSW artists shadowing her during the residency are Anna Kuroda and Ryuichi Fujimura.

Sioned (UK/Japan) has been working in Japan since 2008 and is now based at least half of the year there.  She was born in Bangor, North Wales and trained at Laban Centre London before going to the Merce Cunningham Studios New York. She has been choreographing since 1998. Sioned’s work has developed through long-term collaborations, with particular communities and with collaborating artists. Her first project developed in Japan was Aomori Aomori in the Tōhoku region of the North.
