APPLICATIONS EXTENDED: NOW CLOSING 10AM, THURSDAY 15 OCTOBER 2020
Critical Path is offering 4 funded artist-led research residencies in 2021.
Artists with a choreographic practice are invited to propose research projects that focus on explorations of new ideas, process or practice development without a pre-determined product outcome.
The research residencies are not available for creative development of new work, though they may allow early terrain explorations or deep digging into particular ideas and concerns. They may lay the foundation of new work.
For 2021 Critical Path’s vision is concentrated on our ‘Under A Southern Sky’ curatorial ‘constellations’ –
- Australia’s First Peoples – continuing contemporary
- Australia-Asia artist led initiatives and exchange
- Regional and Remote collaborations & connections
- Digital & Online choreographic work-space
We encourage applicants to consider how their research addresses this curation. If you have a project that is important to you but you feel does not meet these areas, you can still apply – the selection panel will still consider your proposal.
The selection panel includes artists/practitioners with a diversity of practice and experience.
Artists are asked as part of their project to find a way to share their research more broadly. This can be through participation, presentation, publication, or other methods suitable to their practice.
ELIGIBILITY
The residencies are open to NSW-connected artists. As part of the application you will be asked to indicate how you are connected to New South Wales (living or working or by Country).
Due to our funding, at least one residency will be offered to an artist living or working in Sydney.
You must be an artist with a choreographic practice working with a contemporary practice.
