Presented by Ausdance NSW and Critical Path.
With the continuing support of Ausdance Beyond The Training offers skills sharing and professional development workshops aimed at exploring beyond the technique of dance classes.
The first workshop of 2016 will be with Glasgow-based artist Claire Cunningham. Claire is interested in non-normative bodies and is keen to highlight the enrichment to be gained in contemporary performance, especially dance, by embracing this.
‘Permission to speak…’
In this workshop Cunningham will introduce participants to techniques that are formative in her own performance practice and when working collaboratively with other dancers and with different bodies – building methods of communication and trust, layers of perception, and exploring the use of language and voice to reveal our relationship to our bodies and vocabulary. ‘Permission to speak’ is focused on process, rather than results or product.
This workshop is aimed at individuals with established dance or physical practice. Please let us know of any access requirements in advance.
Claire Cunningham is a multi-disciplinary performer and choreographer based in Glasgow. Originally a classically-trained singer she began to work in dance in 2005, after working with US choreographer Jess Curtis who kindled her interest in movement.
