A photo of a group of performers standing close together performing in a showing. One is looking up with arms opened wide, one is looking down with arms and wrists folded in towards their belly, one is looking behind them with a large smile across their face.

BiPolar Express

Critical Path residency in partnership with MARCS Institute of Brain, Behaviour, and Development, Western Sydney University

Critical Path is delighted to be supporting Avalon Ormiston and Bianca Yeung for the research and development of their new work BiPolar Express. BiPolar Express is a cross-medium collaboration between writer Bianca Yeung, dancer/choreographer Avalon Ormiston, and director Isabella Milkovitsch, blending dance and theatre to explore the lived experience of bipolar disorder. During their Critical Path residency in the Research Room and at the MARCS Institute of Brain, Behaviour, and Development, Avalon will develop the work’s choreographic language via focused research with a small ensemble, refining the work’s physical vocabulary and deepening our psychological inquiry. Collaborating with producer Phaedra Brown and performers Grace White, Tom Evans, Naomi Belet and Isabella Ciappara, the group will bring this work to life in preparation for its premiere at Sydney Fringe Festival this September.
