Doing Things

Open to 10 Australian choreographers/dancers. Honorarium provided. Expressions of interest due 1 September.
Participants in this lab are invited to attend the SEAM Symposium, registration fee waived.

During the workshop participants will work collectively and individually exploring notions of choreography and ‘doing things.’ Mette says, “As an example for a collective practice, we will orient ourselves in space with focus on the relation between thinking and doing.” There will be guided explorations drawing attention to habitual body-object-space relations, with an aim to activate these notions and propose shifts in attention. Participants will develop specific tasks in various formats collaborating with the group, with objects and with space.

Mette Edvardsen has worked for several years as a dancer and performer for Les Ballets C. de la B. with Hans Van den Broeck and Christine de Smedt, Thomas Hauert/ ZOO, Mårten Spångberg and others. Her own work is situated within the performing arts field, also exploring other media or other formats such as video, books and writing. She presents her works internationally and continues to develop projects with other artists.
