INFORM is a 2 year program partnership between NORPA and Critical Path which aims to explore and extend dance theatre practice in the Northern Rivers region, NSW.
The program creates a space for opening up ideas and broadening skills at the intersection of dance and theatre making. A series of 4 workshop-labs over two years will consider how dance and choreography can underpin an embodied approach to theatre and provide different methodologies for performance making.
INFORM #3 is a week-long immersive workshop/lab from 2-6 September, during which participants will explore the intersection of dance and theatre making and ways to create work using site responsive processes within our natural environment. There will be a mix of exploration in the NORPA Studio as well as some time on various ‘testing’ sites around the region.
INFORM #3 will be facilitated by NORPA Artistic Director Julian Louis and choreographer Alexandra Harrison. The week will offer participants the space to both develop their individual ideas, interest and curiosity and to exchange and explore with other artists. It will also provide an opportunity for artists to experience NORPA’s unique process of research, devising and reimagining story through sites and physical theatre, and to be part of seeding new works.
There are 8* bursary places available for INFORM #3. A bursary place provides the participant with an honorarium of $400 and no fee is charged.
*Priority for bursary places will be given to artists living in the Northern Rivers.
Expressions of Interest close Monday 12 August 5pm AEST and can be accessed via the NORPA website. Participants will be notified by Friday 16 August.
This program was made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, provided through Regional Arts Australia.
