Peter will explore the manifold forces of sexuality, gender and power as they unfold in choreographic research. The exploration will culminate in a showing with other dancers, musicians and performers at the Drill Hall on January 24, 2015. The work will employ improvisational techniques, such as those taught by Andrew Morrish and Rosalind Crisp, as well contact improvisation and Japanese rope bondage or kinbaku. Felix Ruckert’s concepts of emotional space and spatial emotion will also be investigated in a performance context.
Peter Banki is a Research Associate in Philosophy at the University of Western Sydney. His research explores the interstices between philosophy, dance and sexuality.
