Angela will be continuing research and development of her new work Uncanny Valley, Girl by following/unravelling threads from research begun during her Culture Lab residency at Arts House in Melbourne last year. Uncanny Valley, Girl explores a feminist cyber/socio-political imagination. Playing on the borders of horror and eroticism to confront how we collectively fear and fantasise femininity and the space between the natural and the unnatural. Looking to the history of feminized cyborgs in popular culture, as well as the history of cybernetics, cyberfeminism, and the interelated history of women and mechanical production, to produce a web of speculative relations reflecting in and around concepts of the body, nature, and technology. She is working at distance with collaborators Holly Childs and Corin Illeto.
Uncanny Valley, Girl premieres at FOLA in March at Arts House.
