Alison Plevey continues experimentation for a solo project investigating the extreme climates of the body. How can she derive choreographic material from a deep tuning to the movements, temperatures, flows and shifts within the body? What is physiologically happening? What is imaginatively happening? How is this translated or expressed? What role does place have in evoking new lenses to experience these shifts?
Matt Shilcock explores the choreographic potential of transmutation circles and mapping the process human experience through Alchemic symbology. In essence, recording the recipe and process of personal transmutation, using dance to create a bridge manifesting the ethereal into the physical; a dance of self-transformation.
Amaara Raheem shares video tests made during her recent research residency with Critical Path and Creative Practice Lab, UNSW; using video, writing, choreography and performance to explore neurological pathways, mobility and migration.

Alison Plevey is a choreographer and dance artist based in Canberra. Her practice spans youth dance, education, cross-disciplinary collaborations, festival commissions, solo research and arts industry development in regional NSW and the ACT. Her recent works include Dancing with Drones (Performance Space LiveWorks 2015), SPROUT (Art, Not Apart and You Are Here Festivals 2016), Heatwave (Dance on the Edge 2016, Nervous at Mount Stromlo Observatory, and Strings Attached at New Acton, Shake It and Autonomous, Art Not Apart.
Alison creates and performs with Lingua Franca Dance Theatre with Adam Deusien. Based in Bathurst they create visceral original performance engaging professional, emerging and community artists.She also leads Canberra based, Australian Dance Party, a company embodying her study of dance as a universal communicative medium and a powerful practice to experience, debate and celebrate.
Matt Shilcock is a South Australian based dance artist. He is a 2nd Kyu in Budo Taijutsu and specialised weaponry; he adapts mobility aids to choreographic and weaponised use. His passion extends from his own accomplishments in transitioning from a full-time wheelchair user to his current practices in dance, fitness training and martial arts. In 2009, Matt began performing professionally and has since engaged with companies across Australia, including Murmuration, No Strings Attached Theatre for Disability and Restless Dance Theatre, Kaldor Public Arts and internationally with Mass Box (China), Touch Compass (NZ), Full Radius (USA), Candoco (UK), Independence (UK), FreeWill Theatre (HK) and the Van L Dance Company (UK).Matt is a current ensemble member with Murmuration.
Amaara Raheem is a Sri Lankan born Australian dance artist. In November 2017 Amaara will be presenting a new work in collaboration with curator Camila Marambio called, ‘Meth(odological) Lab’ as part of the survey exhibition of the Swedish duo Goldin+Senneby titled “The Standard Length of a Miracle (the bootleg version)”. The ‘Meth Lab’ is part homeopathic experiment, part occupation of space in order to hypothesise and develop a formula (and a scent) for making TIME. In 2018 Amaara will return to work with Xavier Le Roy in Essen, performing Temporary Title, 2015 for the third time: Carriageworks, Sydney (2015), Centre Pompidou, Paris (2016), Tanzplatfform, Essen (2018). In 2015 Amaara undertook a travelling artist’s residency ‘Twenty-three Days at Sea’ curated by Access Gallery sailing from Vancouver to Shanghai aboard a cargo ship. Most recently Amaara was invited to be ‘in-residence’ at Dancehouse (Melbourne) in 2018 and during this year she proposes to create a ‘syllabus’ for the Lecture-Performance which includes workshops and a curated program of events. In her ‘Responsive Residency’ at Critical Path (2017) Amaara was in dialogue with neurosurgeon, Dr. Brindha Shivalingam interrogating brain-body pathways and through this work her hands emerged as a site of knowing / know-how. Since then she has been working with ideas on how our hands operate in the world, “its meadows of holding, of shaping” (Hirschfield).
