Critical Path offers small space grants to artists in need where The Drill Hall might be available for short periods of time.
gemma+molly will spend 6 days in The Drill for their continued development of their new interactive dance performance LUSH.
gemma+molly are a collaborative duo working within the broad scope of contemporary performance art, anchored by their individual and shared history of dance training. Their dual practice consists of a necessary reliance on their two bodies at work, to conduct physical, durational, and live installation research. They regard audiences as collaborators, in an effort to engage audience autonomy and disrupt hierarchies in performative spaces. Through their practice we work to continue the deep, strong lineages of queer and feminist art.
“This is a work defining queer sexual experiences of gemma+molly. We envision this work to echo a lesbian ‘coming of age’ tale. We are working to empower ourselves and audiences, through performance that directly and humorously gives volume to fem and queer sexual desires and approaches to making. LUSH will be structured by stages of sex, as experienced by our bodies, and presented through a collage of performative metaphors”
