SPRING WORKSHOPS

In this workshop (her only one in Australia), French choreographer Nacera Belaza opens up her movement style of repeated gestures and slow stretching of time, created with an acute sense of the listening body, as well as approach to, thinking and decision-making in her work.

‘Create, perform, transmit, process for me has always been one and the same action which seeks to communicate a buried word that can only be heard through art.’

This workshop is open to anyone interested in choreographic practice with some experience of movement.

Submit your EOIs by Thursday 6 October.

Born in Algeria, Nacera Belaza moved to France at the age of five where she studied French literature, before focusing on dance and establishing her own company in 1989. Belaza’s works have been presented internationally. She received the Prix de la Revelation Choregraphique by the French Critics Syndicate in 2008 and the Award La Danse in Quebec in 2009.
