fLING Physical Theatre will be hosting UK dancer and choreographer Vicky Malin in Bega on 30 May to 1 June. Vicky and regional artist Gabriela Green, independent dance artist and Dance Development Officer at fLiNG, will work with company Artistic Directors Rob McCredie and Gabrielle Rose on inclusive practice – focusing on partner work, technique/training and composition. Vicky and Gabriela will also co-teach a workshop for fLiNGs inclusive dance group MoveMe; participants are teenagers to young adults.
VICKY MALIN danced with Candoco Dance Company for 6 years from 2008 to 2014 and performed Candoco’s first ever solo commission, This is it choreographed by Matthias Sperling. Vicky gained a degree in Psychology and Drama and Theatre Studies in 2003 at Roehampton University. She subsequently trained on the Candoco Foundation Course in Dance for Disabled People in 2005. After graduating Vicky went on to perform for Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company, touring with works by Liam Steel (Stan Won’t Dance) and aerial artist Jess Curtis in 2007. Vicky performs, teaches and makes work within different contexts.
fLiNG Physical Theatre, founded 2001, is a youth dance organisation based in Bega. It gives regional youth, aged 14 to 18 years, the opportunity to work with local and visiting professional artists to develop original contemporary performance projects.
